Best != most reasonable

Sagami is my favorite.

For major volume sushi, Aoi. For better than average all you can eat
but can only have what they put out, I prefer Hibachi.

I've wanted to try *their* all-you-can-eat special for some time now.
How is it?

The sushi is okay, but not up to the standards of, say, Genji. And they
have a weird "clean your plate" system for the all you can eat, under
which you pay for whatever remains uneaten. I wouldn't go again. (Plus,
the whole concept of all you can eat sushi seems to be a contradiction in
terms to me; but that's another story.)

Okay, next question: How does this compare to the buffet at Oasis?

Little bit of apples/oranges, here. The sushi is better at Aoi- it's fresh
made, at least. But if you're in the mood for some serious buffet action,
Oasis is the place, I guess. (Though I've only been to that buffet once,
too. In general, I don't much like buffets, and Oasis' isn't an exception.)

It's decent. They have a pretty good variety of choices on what you can
have. Probably around 30 choices and they come in maki, sashami and
large hand rolls. Plus they start you off with meso soup and salad.
(Side note here, they make a wasabi ranch like dressing that is amazing
good, just request it).

The down side is that you have to eat everything you take and after the
first 15 points (1 for maki, 3 for sashami and 5 for handrolls i think),
they start upping the amount of rice in the dishes. They do warn you of
this though.

Oasis All you can eat is $12.95 at lunch and at dinner, they also have
sashimi!!!

Hibachi if you use the $8 coupon in the Inky -- also AYCE

IMO, Sagami is vastly overrated. I paid $22.50 for a tiny portion of sushi
that wasn't any better than places that charge a LOT less and have decent
service and better atmosphere.

I totally disagree unless something has changed drastically in the past
few months. First, their portions are HUGE. Yes, the price is high, but I
would bet that ounce for ounce it works out ok. I mean, the nigiri is
gargantuan. Then you seem to dislike the service. I have always had very
friendly service and the sushi chefs do sometimes get a bit backed up but
certainly I have never had cause to complain that the wait for my food was
unreasonable. Sometimes it is not as speedy as I'd like but that's the
only minor complaint I can think of in regards to service. And as far as
atmosphere goes, gosh - I like the atmosphere at Sagami. Nice Japanese
prints and stuff on the walls, nicely dressed servers... Different
strokes, I guess.

Hmmm, how 'bout I tell you my favorite itamae instead, and where he'll be
working soon?! I've been going regularly to whatever restaurant Yone-san
is at for the last 5 years or so. He's been at a couple now in the Main
Line area and is about to start working at a new place on Lancaster Ave in
Bryn Mawr in the space that used to be occupied by Peche Mignon (right
next to the restaurant/bar The Grog). This new Japanese restaurant is
called Zen and will be opening very soon I am told, perhaps as soon as
this weekend.
