Took a small out of towner group for brunch today--around noon on a
Thursday. My first time there, too. It was a treat, I'd have no
trouble recommending it to others.

Service was prompt and attentive, but it was a slow part of the day,
too. The menu was breakfast items on one side and a brunchy-lunch menu
on the other, and a large blackboard of specials--about 10 of them.
One of our diners requested a substitution of polenta fries from
another menu item for the usual cottage fries, and she was cheerfully
accommodated. My ricotta nectarine french toast was very pleasant and
not overly sweet, needing no additions of butter or syrup. Gazpacho
and spinach salad were very good, beautifully presented. Another of
our group was especially pleased with her eggs benedict, nothing
unusual about the dish except it was rather big. The coffee was a
slightly weak dark roast, and if I had any gripes about the place, it
would be that they make the coffee a wee bit stronger, and offer to
serve it asap as soon as you sit down. At least during the breakfast
and brunch hours.

We sat in the front room (where the old bakery case is) and were
perfectly comfortable with a 5th chair at an existing 4-top--no
elbow-room or traffic-flow problems. This partially-tiled front room
was also said to be cooler than the adjoining side and back rooms on
this humid day. The decor is pink. Enh, so what. Neither of the
Scottish soccer gents in our party seemed put off by it.

Also -- i usually scope for how comfortable my elderly parents might
be in a restaurant. I think they'd be fine here, since the front room
was not cramped and tables and chairs easy to get in and out of--no
booths. Note for wheelchair users, etc -- there are two steps at the
front entrance, and there is one step to get to the restroom, and to
the side and back rooms.

The bill for our party of five was about $65. We found it a good value
and a treat, and my guests remarked that they'd happily make it a
regular thing on future Phila visits.

Sabrina's is indeed on Christian Street, not Catherine. Headers
changed to reflect that.
