The building housing the restaurant, which closed in August, was sold
Monday for $2 million.

New owner Ethan Fellheimer and a limited partnership, Felchen 15 LP, plan
to lease the space
for retail and/or restaurant use.

The four-story building is 27,000 square feet and has storefronts on both
15th and Locust
streets. Upper floors will be leased as office space, Fellheimer said.

"We hope to bring the building up to what it used to be," said Fellheimer.
"It's a tremendous
spot."

Bookbinders Seafood House, which was founded in 1893, had been the subject
of a bitter legal
feud between brothers Samuel Jr. and Richard Bookbinder, who had defaulted
on an agreement to
buy brother Samuel's share of the restaurant.

This summer, a Court of Common Pleas judge ordered Richard Bookbinder to
uphold the purchase
agreement and pay Samuel Bookbinder $1.76 million.

Bookbinders Seafood was not connected to Old Original Bookbinders, which
is owned by the Taxin
family and is expected to reopen next spring after renovations.
