Tis morning I was a little early for work, so I took a walk along Ridge Avenue
in Roxboro. I came upon "Cafe Roma Bakery" at 6147 Ridge. It has a bakery
case with several kinds of cheesecake (sold in slices as well as whole),
Italian cookies, and many other pastries. I asked for a piece of strudel and
a coffee to go. When I received them, the lady said, "One dollar please." I
asked whether that was just for the coffee and she said it was for both. i
asked whether it was a special promotion (There was a sign, "Welcome to
our new location" in the window) and she said, "No, regular price." The coffee
was conventional American (10 oz styro) and nice and strong. The strudel was
about 4 oz, nice and moist inside with flakey outer shell. They also have
some
tables and folks were sitting. In retrospect I should have looked around more
but I was in a hurry to get back to my car (and the strudel). There's a Dunkin
Donuts just up at the corner (Leverington) where the same size coffee is $1.09
and the pastries are extra!!
